The Horrors of Education

Tue Dec 15, 2009, 9:43 PM
Schools are just horrible places aren't they? Just completely horrid. The utilization of fundamental maths, sciences, writing, reading and grammar are not what I am attacking, but the fucked up statist education system.

First of all, most, if not ALL schools today are either state-funded or state-approved, which means all curriculum subjects are under the control of the state, including History. And of course you know what I'm talking about. The state creates a version of history that shows it off as the hero which makes for it having a larger base of ideological support. Another is the fact that public schools suck. I won't sugarcoat it, public schools are just absolutely fucking horrible, and everybody knows it. You often hear the phrase "Aw that kid's from a public school, I bet he's a dumbass." And there is a valid reason for that, and that reason is state funding. It isn't a shortage of taxes that's the problem, it's the fact that only a small percentage of these state funds even go to these programs and the fact that these programs are just abso-fucking-lutely useless in long-term education in the first place. As of this year, 2009, the Philippines is now ranked 78th according to literacy rate, the US is ranked 19th, China is 80th, and Saudi Arabia is ranked 112th. And you know what's the country right now with the highest literacy rate? Cuba. CUBA for Christ's sake. Most people will see Cubans as drug dealers and some of them are anarchists aiming to overthrow their oppressive state. They beat the US by a long shot, and they have a "worse" system than we have. We're 78th! This is because the sorta scary US state, the less scary Philippine state, and the really scary Chinese state all throw as little as they can for education, and make sure that the curriculum is limited only to that which the state approves, which is of course complete bullshit. And those who advocate home-schooling or any other form of education that promotes discussion and debate, intellectual stimulation, individual analysis, and cost-benefit analysis in knowledge application are called stupid, isane, idealistic, moronic, and whatever else because they don't advocate being locked up in a room and not allowed to take a piss by some 30 to 40 year old stranger hitting a whiteboard with a stick and just wanting to power-trip on students.

Next is that damn atmosphere. Being a black sheep in class is common, especially in grade school and in pre-elementary stages. The kids and teachers who power-trip have no idea of the trauma they might be causing to children in these delicate stages. You rarely see it on those TV shows that tell of kids with sob-stories telling of how they were being fucked around with at school, and it's for many, many, many reasons. Race, religious views, looks, circumstances, socio-economic statuses, mental conditions, and even something as simple as taking a tricycle to school or what they brought for lunch. It's all so damn pathetic yet risky. So when someone describes a school as a "safe haven for children to learn and be guided and make friends," that person is either insane, or just a flat out liar.

Another is the co-curricular activity plan brought on students. Here in the Philippines, we have something called the Citizens Advancement Training, or CAT, which is a compulsory part of the high school co-curricular program for seniors. This is supposedly to advocate "Nationalism, Discipline, and to prepare those who have aspirations of protecting the Motherland," a.k.a. Statism. If a Filipino "citizen" doesn't want to take this course, he or she will not be eligible for graduation, and you already see how pathetic this is due to the fact that this advocates marginal statism, the use of violence that's supposedly dedicated to "God and Country." Most reasonable people will see this to be a stupid and abusive system, and if you're observant enough, you see that the students given ideological authority have the tendency to use the threat of corporal punishment if orders aren't achieved, and that old mentality "the fault of one is the fault of all." It's fucking ludicrous, it is abusive, it is corrupt, and it is not what is best for a child who wishes to learn.

These are only few of the flaws in the current education system, and it is being blindly bypassed by people who wish to make money, or those who lean on what they THINK is convenient, and that of course is what is considered normal. But it isn't, not by a long shot. Those who advocate freedom in learning are not the ones who are insane, it's those who say that these people are insane who are the real idiots. And nowadays jobs rely more on lies on a resume and labels like "graduate" than actual skill and work experience, which is also a large part of why most people here in the Philippines end up as care-givers, factory workers and call-center agents, apart from many other large reasons mostly pertaining to barriers to entry and barriers to exit created by the state. We aren't the problem, they are, and schools are now focused on showering you with crap you neither want, need, nor payed for than actually having you learn something.
